Job Details:

The role of IT Network/Systems Engineer is to develop, maintain, support and optimise server and information systems that meets or exceeds business, data access and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and provide Systems Administration services including designing, building, tuning, and backup and recovery for Linux and Wintel systems
• Provide IT technical expertise to applications developers, operations, and other IT staff for systems development and production support.
• Provide expert technical consulting to IT staff in the design, development of infrastructure systems to ensure a robust and stable environment.
• Participate in formulating and implementing IT standards and policies to support the operational environment and business direction.
• Develop all supporting technical documentation to facilitate consistency and quality of installations, systems upgrades and recovery/ repair.
• Develop and implement processes to assist with problem management, change management, performance monitoring to support effective operational management.
• Ensure the application of best practice with regard to database management in the environment to provide a stable and robust infrastructure.
• Drive and guide installation support of new and existing hardware platforms and their operating environments to support ongoing business change and strategy.
• Advise and assist with the operation of Systems support/ Monitoring tools in order to maintain systems.
• Provide, as part of a Rota, on-call production support for IT Operations infrastructure and services..

Knowledge/Experience Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in relevant field or significant demonstrated equivalent competency
• 5+ years experience managing high availability systems, Databases and Networks.
• Knowledge and experience of disaster recovery systems and processes
• Data Centre Management experience – including knowledge of and experience relevant Data Centre standards and best practices
• Extensive demonstration of high level experience with a solid track record of planning, coordinating and delivering multiple, complex programs towards successful delivery.

• Firewalls configuration
• Windows Networking
• Windows Server 2003/2008
• Windows Exchange Server 2007/2010
• Fluent English; German or Italian (it’s a plus)
• Knowledge of Deploying/Managing and Administering a Windows 2008 server
• Installing, configuring and maintaining IIS7.0
• Creation of IIS .NET 1.1 & 2.0 websites.
• Installation, deployment and replication of SQL 2005/2008 databases.
• Managing schedule tasks.
• In depth knowledge of networking both at an office level and a data centre level including IPv6 (not essential).
• In depth knowledge of IIS.
• Knowledge of PBX and telephony systems.
• Knowledge of Linux (Cent OS) and Windows Operating Systems including management of proxy services.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines within a team environment
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Must have excellent customer facing skills
• Must have excellent follow-up skills
• Knowledge of VM Ware Esx
• Experience in the e-commerce, online gaming and / or telecommunications Industries.
