Betting Connections Sponsors the Malta Open Sports Day for Charity

Organised by a group of volunteers, the 19th of September will see more than 35 Igaming and non-Igaming companies gather ten of their employees for a day of jam-packed competitive fun field games, sports and athletic activities. The aim is to raise funds for three local charity organisations, whilst bringing the iGaming community closer to the Maltese public.

During a press conference that took place last night at the Portomaso Tower, Hon. Joe Herrera, minister for the Economy expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Maltese government to all volunteers and sponsors for bringing this event together. His honor also expressed his view on the positive effect the igaming sector has on the Maltese economy, and stated that “the igaming community is considered to be an elite within a separate sphere to the rest of the public and that we should try to integrate these intelligent bright young people more within the public community”.

This fund raising day will be the first of its kind in Malta and will all be held in the name of Inspire, an organization providing services for people with disabilities, Puttinu Cares , a cancer support group for children and Remax & Friends, a foundation set up by a local company organizing events and donating to various local causes. With most of these charities relying entirely on sponsors and generous donations to keep them running, anyone participating will without a doubt be directly helping out these organisations. Whilst thanking  Betting Connections and other companies for their sponsorship,  Kevin Buttigieg, one of the main event organisers also stated that “This is an open event where everyone is invited, we urge people from all over Malta to join in the fun, or to simply come along to show their support”.

Events on the day will include track events such as the 100m CEO’s dash, sack and potato races as well as field events such as high jump, longest tennis ball throw and we cannot possibly miss mentioning the 60m Piggy back ride race! All in all, this jam-packed day is sure to be a day of fun, teambuilding and laughs for everyone taking part.

”We are so excited to be taking part in this event and to be giving something back to local charities. I think it’s a fantastic initiative and we cannot wait to bring home many of the games’ trophies” says Duarte, managing director for Betting Connections.
